The Student Health Center at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs will have a free walk-in clinic for UCCS students interested in receiving an H1N1 vaccination.
From 9 – 11 a.m. Nov. 18 at the University Center Gymnasium, Student Health Center employees, assisted by students and faculty from the Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences, will conduct the flu shot clinic. The clinic is only available to students with current UCCS identification. No faculty, staff, or family members will be immunized.
About 1,000 doses of vaccine are available. The Student Health Centert previously conducted flu shot clinics with students who live in university housing and will conduct other clinics as the vaccine becomes available.
The Student Health Center will close during the flu shot clinic, according to Stephanie Hanenberg, director.
People under 24 years old are considered to be at high risk for the H1N1 virus and are encouraged to get the vaccination. Loose-fitting clothing that allows access for arms is recommended. Students are also encouraged to eat prior to the clinic. Students who are ill or showing signs of illness will not be vaccinated.
