WHO: Richard Elliott, artist and adjunct professor at the California College of the Arts in Oakland, Calif. Elliott is a former resident of Colorado Springs and currently lectures regularly at educational institutions in the San Francisco area. His fiber artwork has been shown in numerous regional and national exhibitions.
WHAT: Public lecture and UCCS student workshop as part of a grant from the Roser Foundation and sponsored by the department of Visual and Performing Arts at UCCS.

WHY: Elliott will present visual images and discuss his artwork of pattern development. Using cellular systems and structures as a point of departure, Elliott enlarges microscopic images and transfers them in a variety of ways to create layered rhythms of pattern on fabric and paper.
