COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO Venkateshwar “Venkat” K. Reddy, associate dean, College of Business and Administration at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs will serve as interim dean for the 2004-2005 academic year, university officials recently announced.
Rogers Redding, vice chancellor, Academic Affairs, selected Reddy to replace Gary Klein, Couger professor of information systems. Klein served as interim dean for the 2003-2004 academic year. He will return to full-time teaching and research at the university. Redding made the appointment based on recommendations from a College of Business search committee. The committee conducted an internal search to identify candidates.
“I am pleased that Dr. Reddy has agreed to assist in the leadership of the College of Business,” Redding said. “He is a valued and respected member of the campus faculty and administration. I am confident in his abilities and to interact with community leaders to ensure the highest quality education possible.”
Reddy is also a professor of finance and has taught in the undergraduate, on-campus MBA, Distance MBA, and Executive MBA programs. Additionally, he served as the Coordinator of the College of Business extended studies program. Reddy joined the CU-Colorado Springs faculty in 1991, was named assistant professor in 1992, associate professor in 1999 and professor in 2004. Previously, he served as chair of the Accounting and Finance Department and associate dean for graduate programs, and associate dean for the college. In 1996 and 2000, he was awarded the College of Business Outstanding Teacher Award and in 2003, the university’s Best Practices Award. In 2001, he was named by the Colorado Springs Business Journal to its “Forty Achievers under 40” list. As associate dean, Reddy led the development of the university’s Distance MBA program, recognized by U.S. News and World Report as one of the top accredited online MBA programs in the country.

Reddy, a native of Hyderabad, India, earned a bachelor’s degree in India, and both master’s and Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University, State College.
The College of Business was established with the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in 1965 and serves the needs of the Pikes Peak region and southern Colorado for competent and responsible managers, for continued education of those already in such positions, and for research. It also serves the needs for business education throughout the world with its distance MBA. This fall, about 800 undergraduate and 275 graduate students enrolled in the college. Both undergraduate and graduate business degree programs are fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
CU-Colorado Springs, located on Austin Bluffs Parkway in northeast Colorado Springs, is the fastest growing university in Colorado and one of the fastest growing universities in the nation. The university offers 25 bachelor’s degrees, 17 master’s and two doctoral degrees. The campus enrolls about 7,800 students annually.
