Recipients must be promising Colorado residents with demonstrated financial need whose academic performance may not have always reflected their potential but who have the capacity to succeed in college. These students are often overlooked by other scholarship programs.<\/p>\n
“We are excited about this opportunity to help students, especially in light of the current financial climate in our state,” said Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak. “We look forward to continuing our commitment to the students the Daniels Fund has identified and to this partnership,” she added.<\/p>\n
The fund is named for the late Bill Daniels, cable entrepreneur, who never went to college. Prior to his death he expressed his desire to help other individuals pursue the college education he missed. He wanted his billion-dollar foundation to focus on college scholarships for students who might not otherwise attend.
