SPRINGS, COLO — Philanthropist, activist and computer expert Timothy<\/p>\n

Gill will speak at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs at<\/p>\n

6:30 p.m. March 6 in the University Center.<\/p>\n

Gill, of Denver, <\/span><\/p>\n

is a software entrepreneur and one of the state’s most successful businessmen.<\/p>\n

He will speak about gay issues in business. The lecture is free and<\/p>\n

open to the public. The lecture is sponsored by the Campus Activities<\/p>\n

Board.<\/p>\n

“Tim Gill cares <\/span><\/p>\n

about a lot of issues,” Ryan Kendall, a member of the Campus Activities<\/p>\n

Board, said. “It is an honor to have someone of his caliber who<\/p>\n

is willing to share insight with the campus.”<\/p>\n

One of two openly gay individuals on the Forbes 400 “Richest People<\/p>\n

in America” list, Gill is an active philanthropist and socially<\/p>\n

conscious businessman. In 1981, he founded Quark, Inc., a leading producer<\/p>\n

of high-end graphics software. He served as its chairman and chief technology<\/p>\n

officer until the company’s sale in 1999.<\/p>\n

Through the Gill <\/span><\/p>\n

Foundation, millions of dollars are provided annually to gay and lesbian<\/p>\n

and HIV\/AIDS organizations along with other charitable causes including<\/p>\n

social justice organizations and educational institutions.<\/p>\n

The University of <\/span><\/p>\n

Colorado, American Red Cross, public broadcasting and the American Civil<\/p>\n

Liberties Union have all received funding from the Gill Foundation.<\/p>\n

Gill received CU’s <\/span><\/p>\n

University Medal in 1996 and was named the Rocky Mountain Region’s High-Tech<\/p>\n

Entrepreneur in 1994.<\/p>\n
