GIULIANI HELPS LAUNCH CU-COLORADO SPRINGS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM<\/b><\/font><\/p>\n

COLORADO <\/p>\n

SPRINGS, COLO — Former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani will talk <\/p>\n

about his experiences and those of other New Yorkers following the Sept. <\/p>\n

11 attack on the World Trade Center as part of a scholarship fund raising <\/p>\n

effort for students at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.<\/font><\/p>\n

Giuliani, Time magazine’s <\/p>\n

2001 Person of the Year, will be the speaker for an August 25 event <\/p>\n

at the Broadmoor Hotel’s International Center to benefit the Reach Your <\/p>\n

Peak Scholarship Fund at CU-Colorado Springs. This inaugural lecture <\/p>\n

is named in honor of community leaders Mary Ellen and Michael McNally.<\/font><\/p>\n

Tickets for the <\/p>\n

event are $250 and include dinner. Corporate tables are also available. <\/p>\n

Giuliani, New York <\/p>\n

City’s 107th mayor, was a high-profile leader of the nation’s largest <\/p>\n

city prior to the events of Sept. 11. But it was his leadership during <\/p>\n

the crisis at the World Trade Center that catapulted him into the spotlight <\/p>\n

as the world’s attention turned to New York City and the more than 2,000 <\/p>\n

victims of the World Trade Center attack. Giuliani will talk about his <\/p>\n

initial reaction to the attack, his activities following the attacks, <\/p>\n

and will offer his predictions for New York’s and America’s future. <\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

The lecture series <\/p>\n

is named in recognition of the community contributions of Dr. Michael <\/p>\n

and Mary Ellen McNally, Colorado Springs. Michael McNally practiced <\/p>\n

as a neurological surgeon for more than 35 years and served on the boards <\/p>\n

of directors for many medical and community-related organizations. Mary <\/p>\n

Ellen McNally held elected positions to the Colorado Springs City Council <\/p>\n

and Colorado Springs School District 11 in addition to leadership positions <\/p>\n

with the American Red Cross, United Way and the Colorado Springs Symphony.<\/font><\/p>\n
