Active duty and retired members of the military, National Guard and reserve units and their families are eligible to attend a May 21 Colorado Advisory Council on Military Education program free of charge.<\/p>\n
The program, which begins at 8:30 a.m. and continues until 6 p.m., at the University Center on the campus of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, will feature presentations by enlisted personnel and officers about the importance of education as part of personal and career development. Information tables staffed by representatives of area educational institutions are also planned.<\/p>\n
Speakers include Lt. General Christopher Miller, deputy chief of staff for strategic plans and programs, U.S. Air Force, Chief Master Sergeant John T. Salman, command chief master sergeant, U.S. Air Force Academy, and Dave Hnida, M.D., a major in the U.S. Army Medical Corps and author of \u201cParadise General: Riding the Surge at a Combat Hospital in Iraq.\u201d<\/p>\n
Miller and Hnida are expected to speak beginning at 9 a.m. and Miller will lead a general session at 2 p.m. in the University Center Ballroom. For a complete list of conference topics and times, visit www.co-acem.org<\/p>\n
Registration is free with identification for active duty and retired members of the military, National Guard and reserve units and dependents and for members of the Colorado Advisory Council on Military Education. For others, registration is $35 and includes both breakfast and lunch.<\/p>\n
