The William G. McGowan Charitable Fund recently awarded a scholarship valued at $18,000 awarded to an undergraduate student at the University of Colorado Springs.<\/p>\n
DiHanna-Dimitra Pantazis, Glencoe, Minnesota, received the scholarship, the first awarded at UCCS.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel honored and humbled to be the recipient of the William G. McGowan Scholarship and proudly accept this award with profound gratitude,\u201d Pantazis said.<\/p>\n
She plans to major in finance and accounting and will use the scholarship to further her entrepreneurial goals.<\/p>\n
The Chicago-based McGowan Charitable Fund, established in 1992 by former MCI Corp Chairman William McGowan, works with colleges and universities accredited by the International Association for Management Education or the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs. The program is based on McGowan\u2019s personal experiences. He won a scholarship to Harvard and later launched a successful business career.<\/p>\n
