There are more students at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs this spring and they enrolled in more courses.<\/p>\n
UCCS students enrolled in 89,166 credit hours this spring, a 5,425 hour or 6.5 percent increase from last year, according to statistics released by the university today. A total of 7,693 students were enrolled as of Feb. 6, a 383 student or 5.2 percent increase from a year ago.<\/p>\n
All six UCCS colleges posted increases in both enrollment and student credit hours<\/p>\n
\u201cIn these difficult financial times, students are recognizing that putting their education first is a smart move,\u201d Steve Ellis, Office of the Registrar, said. \u201cAdditionally, the efforts by many to improve freshman student retention are shown in these figures.\u201d<\/p>\n
In recent years, UCCS launched a variety of student retention efforts ranging from early warning systems for students having trouble in courses to one-on-one mentoring. The university also operates several EXCEL Centers which provide free on-campus academic assistance.<\/p>\n
The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs located on Austin Bluffs Parkway in Colorado Springs, is one of the fastest growing universities in the nation. The University offers 30 bachelor\u2019s degrees, 19 master\u2019s and four doctoral degrees. The campus enrolls about 8,000 students annually.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
