HLC accredits degree-granting post-secondary educational institutions in the North Central region, which includes 19 states including Colorado. The HLC routinely visits colleges and universities every decade. An accrediting team is compiling information now and will personally visit UCCS beginning Nov. 14.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccreditation is both a distinguishing factor and is an opportunity for us to ensure we are meeting \u2013 or surpassing \u2013 the standards expected of high quality institutions,\u201d UCCS Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak said. \u201cIt is vital that we present ourselves honestly, accurately and with plans for adapting to a changing educational environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The following criteria will be used by HLC when evaluating UCCS<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mission<\/li>\n<li>Integrity: Ethical and Responsible Conduct<\/li>\n<li>Teaching and Learning: Quality, Resources and Support<\/li>\n<li>Teaching and Learning: Evaluation and Improvement<\/li>\n<li>Resources, Planning and Institutional Effectiveness<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The public is invited to send comments to the HLC online at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hlcommission.org\/comment\">www.hlcommission.org\/comment<\/a> or by mail to the following address:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Public Comment on University of Colorado Colorado Springs<br \/>\nHigher Learning Commission<br \/>\n230 South LaSalle Street, Suite 7-500<br \/>\nChicago, IL 60604-1411<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Comments must be received by Oct. 14 and should address substantive matters related to the quality of the institution or its academic programs.
