COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. Undergraduate students enrolled at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, the United States Air Force Academy and Colorado College will gather at UCCS April 14 to share research efforts during the fourth annual Colorado Springs Undergraduate Research Forum.<\/p>\n
The all-day conference, which has grown to more than 200 participants from all disciplines, provides undergraduates the unique opportunity to present scholarly work in a formal academic setting and receive feedback from scholars and peers. The event will consist of student presentations, poster sessions and displays of creative work. Robert Camley, professor, Physics, UCCS, will give the keynote address, “The Secret Lives of Dead Physicists.”<\/p>\n
The conference fosters collaboration between students and faculty, with the goal of discussing topics interesting to both the university and Colorado Springs communities.<\/p>\n
“Scholarly work is a vital part of an undergraduate education,” said Tom Christensen, dean, College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. “The event offers an exciting opportunity to discover and celebrate the excellent work done by our undergraduate students.”<\/p>\n
Registration is from 8 to 9 a.m., followed by the keynote address and oral presentations. Morning and afternoon poster sessions are scheduled, and the forum will conclude with artistic presentations from 2 to 3 p.m. <\/p>\n
All area students, faculty and staff are invited to attend. Prospective high school students, family of current students and community members also are welcome.<\/p>\n
“I strongly encourage our students and community members to participate in this opportunity,” Christensen said.<\/p>\n
