COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. The dean of the Kraemer Family Library at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs was recently honored by the Colorado Association of Libraries.<\/p>\n
Leslie Manning, dean, Kraemer Family Library, was selected for the Career Achievement Award Nov. 11 for her “ongoing commitment and dedication to the library profession.” Her citation called her a “visionary and exceptional librarian who quietly and consistently worked to improve library services statewide.” <\/p>\n
A 33-year veteran of academic libraries, Manning has led the UCCS Kraemer Family Library since 1986. As dean, she directed the 2001 expansion and remodeling of the campus library into one of the most visible and modern libraries in Colorado. The Kraemer Family Library is housed within the university’s El Pomar Center.<\/p>\n
“No one achieves anything alone,” Manning said. “It is because of the wonderful people in the state library system and at the UCCS library that we have achieved so much. It is a privilege for me to work with such wonderful people and to receive this award.”<\/p>\n
Prior to joining the UCCS library as dean in 1986, Manning worked as associate dean for technical services and automation at Kansas State University, Manhattan, and within the libraries of the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and a master’s from the University of Denver.<\/p>\n
