Students, faculty and staff at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs will soon have the convenience of a multiple-use identification card because of a partnership between Ent Federal Credit Union and the university.

In cooperation with Ent, UCCS will offer the Lion OneCard to the university’s more than 7,800 students and 1,000 faculty and staff members beginning this fall. The card will serve as university photo identification and will allow access to library materials, student housing, athletic and performing arts events, shuttle buses and university meal plans. An option will allow the card to provide users ATM and Visa debit card services.

“This is an exciting opportunity for members of the campus community to use one card to access nearly every campus service,” Brian Burnett, vice chancellor, Administration and Finance, said. “The day of needing only one item in your pocket is here.”

“Ent is committed to serving the needs of the people of the Pikes Peak Region and we are particularly excited about our new partnership with UCCS,” said Ent President and CEO Charles Emmer. “The growth of UCCS means that together we can advocate financial literacy and equip students to be successful in life.”

Ent will be the official campus banking partner of UCCS. In addition to providing the new Lion OneCard, Ent will construct a full-service financial center on the first floor of the UCCS University Center. The financial service center will include customer service representatives and an automated teller machine. Additional ATMs are planned in other campus buildings. Through Ent’s participation in the Credit Union COOP Network, students and staff will have access to reciprocal services such as free ATMs in credit unions across the nation.

Ent was selected from multiple vendors who responded to a request for proposals from the CU Procurement Center. In addition to servicing the Lion OneCard, Ent will pay rent for the University Center space, provide student internships, student scholarships and support for campus capital construction projects.

“This was an open and competitive process,” Burnett said. “At the end of the day, we determined that Ent was the best fit for the campus.”

Construction on the banking center will begin immediately. New identification cards will be issued from the center beginning in the fall semester.

Ent Federal Credit Union, established in 1957, is the leading financial institution in the Pikes Peak region of Colorado with $1.9 billion in assets and 160,000 members.
