Gen. Paul LaCamera, 4th Infantry Division and Joint Task Force-Carson commander, in condemning domestic violence and pledging to offer assistance in its prevention and helping victims recover. She will present a proclamation previously signed by UCCS Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak before a 9:30 a.m. Run\/Walk called \u201cWalk a Mile in Her Shoes.\u201d Registration for the run\/walk begins at 8 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>The event is free. Tickets and registration are required. Those who plan to attend should be prepared to show their driver\u2019s license and proof of insurance and current registration when traveling on base at Fort Carson.<\/p>\n<p>Walk A Mile Flyer 2014-011The Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event is sponsored by Fort Carson\u2019s Army Community Services and the UCCS Respect on Campus project. The event, which features men walking in women\u2019s high-heel shoes, is a playful opportunity for men to raise awareness in their community about the serious causes and effects to men\u2019s sexualized violence against women. It\u2019s not easy walking in these shoes, but it\u2019s fun and it gets the community to talk about something that\u2019s really difficult to talk about: gender relations and men\u2019s sexual violence against women.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Following the \u201cwalk the walk\u201d theme, organizers want to help people continue to \u201ctalk the talk.\u201d Representatives from UCCS, Fort Carson and local domestic violence prevention agencies such as TESSA will be in attendance to encourage conversations, answer questions and provide referrals.<\/p>\n<p>Other UCCS Domestic Violence Awareness Month Events are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>TESSA Supply Drive. 10 a.m. \u2013 2 p.m. Oct. 2-6 near Caf\u00e9 65 in the University Center<\/li>\n<li>\u201cWater for Elephants\u201d movie screening and circus night. 7 p.m. Oct. 9 on the West Lawn.<\/li>\n<li>Survivor Speak Out. 7 p.m. Oct. 28 at Berger Hall.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more information about events, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uccs.edu\/roc\">http:\/\/www.uccs.edu\/roc<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The University of Colorado Colorado Springs, located on Austin Bluffs Parkway in Colorado Springs, is one of the fastest growing universities in Colorado.
