{"id":1852,"date":"2014-02-17T15:35:30","date_gmt":"2014-02-17T22:35:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pressreleases.uccs.edu\/?p=1852"},"modified":"2014-02-17T16:11:16","modified_gmt":"2014-02-17T23:11:16","slug":"community-dignitaries-to-celebrate-lane-center-grand-opening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pressreleases.uccs.edu\/?p=1852","title":{"rendered":"Community dignitaries to celebrate Lane Center grand opening"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_1854\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1854\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/pressreleases.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Lane-Center.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1854\" alt=\"Lane Center for Academic Health Sciences\" src=\"http:\/\/pressreleases.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Lane-Center-300x224.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pressreleases.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Lane-Center-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pressreleases.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Lane-Center-150x112.jpg 150w, https:\/\/pressreleases.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Lane-Center-1024x767.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1854\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lane Center for Academic Health Sciences<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. &#8212; A celebration of the first completed University of Colorado Colorado Springs buildings located in the renovated Nevada Avenue corridor is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., Feb. 19 at the Lane Center for Academic Health Sciences.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the CU Board of Regents, CU President Bruce Benson, UCCS Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak, Peak Vista Community Health Centers President and CEO Pam McManus, and Lane Center Benefactor Margot Lane will join other community dignitaries in a short program celebrating the launch of an innovative partnership and the completion of the integrated healthcare facility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the culmination of an incredible collaboration,\u201d Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak said.\u00a0 \u201cIt signifies the beginning of a new way to view and provide health care to the greater Colorado Springs community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis partnership will have a tremendous impact on the Pikes Peak region,\u201d said Peak Vista Community Health Centers President and CEO Pam McManus.\u00a0 \u201cThe sharing of expertise among healthcare providers will allow improved access to wellness services for the growing population of seniors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Housed in the new Lane Center will be five clinics operating under the banner of UCCS HealthCircle.\u00a0 Services will include a primary care clinic as well as specialized services in nutrition, aging, physical activity and behavorial health.<\/p>\n<p>Peak Vista\u2019s Lane Family Senior Health Center will also be located on the second floor in the state-of-the-art facility.\u00a0 Peak Vista will provide primary care focused on wellness and prevention for people 55 and up.<\/p>\n<p>A branch of the CU School of Medicine will also occupy space on the fourth floor of the facility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis represents the healthcare model of the future,\u201d said Sara Qualls, UCCS Kramer Family Professor of Aging. \u201cBy having a diverse group of healthcare professionals in one location such as nutritionists, mental health specialists, gerontologists and primary care physicians working cooperatively together and sharing information, we can maximize care for the \u2018whole\u2019 person.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The public is invited to tour the facility at its community open house scheduled from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on February 22.<\/p>\n<p>The clinics will officially be open and operating on March 3.<\/p>\n<p><b>About the Lane Center<\/b><\/p>\n<p>In November 2011, a $4 million gift from the John E. and Margaret L. Lane Foundation and Margot Lane of Colorado Springs to UCCS and Peak Vista Community Health Centers launched the planning and eventual construction of the Lane Center for Academic Health Sciences.<\/p>\n<p><i>\u00a0<\/i>The Lane Center is the first UCCS building in the North Nevada urban renewal zone and the lead for a long-term project that involves performing arts, athletics and additional health-related facilities on the west side of its campus.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Colorado Colorado Springs, located on Austin Bluffs Parkway in Colorado Springs, is one of the fastest growing universities in the nation. The University offers 37 bachelor\u2019s degrees, 19 master\u2019s and five doctoral degrees. UCCS enrolls about 10,500 students on campus annually and another 2,000 in online programs.
