COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. \u2013 The University of Colorado Colorado Springs Graduate School, in conjunction with the UCCS Office of Research and Innovation, recently awarded $75,000 in graduate fellowships to 15\u00a0 students.<\/p>\n
Each year, the Graduate School invites\u00a0university faculty to nominate students for the fellowships based on merit and the student’s commitment to engage in research.\u00a0 This year, 33 graduate students were nominated, with awards distributed among returning and new students.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvaluation of this year\u2019s nominees was a difficult process due to the number of high-quality candidates,\u201d\u00a0 Kelli Klebe, dean, Graduate School, said.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cI am pleased that the awards were given to students who represent a variety of research disciplines from across the colleges, and between both doctoral and master\u2019s level candidates.\u201d<\/p>\n
Funding for the fellowships comes from the Office of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s fellowship awardees are: \u00a0Nick Anderson (Physics Ph.D.), Ryan Bosworth (Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Ph.D.), Kyle Chulhane (Physics Ph.D.), Chin Chieh Hsu (Electrical Engineering Ph.D.), Crystal Nichols (Psychology Ph.D.), Amanda Docter (Sociology M.A.),\u00a0Ralph Galega (Chemistry M.S.), Ashita Gurnani (Psychology Ph.D.), Vira Kravets (Physics Ph.D.), Angie Knipe (History M.A.), Gabrielle Krus (Psychology Ph.D.), Khang Nhut Lam (Computer Science Ph.D.), Morgan Pinto (Chemistry M.S.),\u00a0 Shawna Rogers (M.B.A.), Jeremy Tredway (Applied Geography M.A.).<\/p>\n
The Graduate School works with six UCCS colleges to offer\u00a0more than\u00a020 master\u2019s and doctoral programs, including online, weekend and evening course options.\u00a0\u00a0Almost all\u00a0\u00a0graduate faculty members have\u00a0terminal degrees\u00a0and many are working with\u00a0 partners such as NASA, the Olympic Training Committee, the National Science Foundation.<\/p>\n
The University of Colorado Colorado Springs, located on Austin Bluffs Parkway in Colorado Springs, is one of the fastest growing universities in the nation.
