{"id":1328,"date":"2013-02-22T16:32:37","date_gmt":"2013-02-22T23:32:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pressreleases.uccs.edu\/?p=1328"},"modified":"2013-02-27T14:35:55","modified_gmt":"2013-02-27T21:35:55","slug":"13-uccs-students-awarded-travel-grants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pressreleases.uccs.edu\/?p=1328","title":{"rendered":"14 UCCS students awarded travel grants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo &#8212; Fourteen University of Colorado Colorado Springs graduate students recently received travel grants to assist them in pursuing research topics.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Deon\u00a0Cobasky<\/strong>,\u00a0sociology, will present \u201cMilitary Suicide: A Consequence of Self-Presentation and Emotional Labor\u201d at the 2013Western Social Science Association Conference in Denver later this year.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Arjun Bhalla<\/strong>, clinical psychology,\u00a0will present\u00a0his research on Hypersexual Disorder\u00a0Disorder at the 2013 American Psychological Association Annual Convention in Honolulu later this year.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Colin Mahoney<\/strong>,\u00a0clinical psychology, will present\u00a0\u201cRelationships between Anxiety with Suicidality, Perceived Burdensomeness, and Thwarted Belongingness in Older Adults\u201d at the 2013 American Psychological Association Annual Convention in Honolulu later this year.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Yanfei\u00a0Guo<\/strong>, engineering a computer science, will present\u00a0&#8220;V-Cache: Towards Flexible Resource Provisioning for Multi-tier Applications in IaaS Clouds\u201d at the 2013 IEEE International Parallel and Distributed Processing Symposium in Boston later this year.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Helen Lahrman<\/strong>,\u00a0student affairs in higher education, will present\u00a0\u201cStudent Perspectives on Inclusive Classrooms: Exploring a Student Inclusiveness Survey\u201d at the\u00a02013 American College Personnel Association Convention in Las Vegas later this year.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Joshua Hendrickson<\/strong>,\u00a0applied geography, will present\u00a0\u201cImplementation of a Multi-Scalar Analysis of Vegetation Diversity Within An Urban Landscape\u201d at the 2013 National American Association of Geographers Annual Meeting in Los Angeles later this year.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Candice Morris<\/strong>, sociology, will present\u00a0\u201cThe Great White Father Extends Citizenship Once More: A Discourse Analysis\u201d at the 2013 Eastern Sociological Society Annual Meeting in Boston later this year.<\/li>\n<li><strong>BriAnn Medina and\u00a0<strong>Arden Szepe<\/strong><\/strong>, clinical mental health counseling, will present\u00a0\u201cEngaging Counselors in Community Needs Following a Natural Disaster\u201d at the 2013 American Counseling Association Conference and Exposition in Cincinnati, OH later this year.<\/li>\n<li><strong><strong>Gran<\/strong>t\u00a0Clayton and\u00a0<strong>Nancy Hernandez<\/strong><\/strong>, leadership, research and policy, will present\u00a0\u201cThe Role of Faculty in Diversity and Inclusiveness Efforts: Results of a Campus Inclusiveness Survey\u201d at the 2013 American Educational Research Association Annual Meeting in San Francisco later this year.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shannon<\/strong><strong>\u00a0Dunnan<\/strong>, clinical mental health counseling, will present\u00a0\u201cThe Implications of Attachment in Counselor Preparation and Supervision\u201d at the 2013 Colorado Counseling Association in Denver later this year.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Susan Jones<\/strong>, leadership, research and policy, will present\u00a0&#8220;Censorship, Policy and the Correctional Culture&#8221; at the 2013 Research and Pictorial Showcase at the annual meeting of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences in Dallas, Texas later this year.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Caitlin Tyrell,<\/strong>\u00a0clinical psychology, will present \u201cRepetition Blindness and Homophone Blindness in Older and Younger Adults\u201d at the 2013 American Psychological Association Annual Convention in Honolulu later this year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The UCCS Graduate School Travel Grant assists graduate students who have been accepted to present their original research at professional conferences within their fields. These graduate students were chosen from a highly competitive group of applicants.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Colorado Colorado Springs, located on Austin Bluffs Parkway in Colorado Springs, is one of the fastest growing universities in the nation.
