{"id":13,"date":"2003-06-11T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2003-06-11T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pressreleases.uccs.edu\/?p=13"},"modified":"2003-06-11T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2003-06-11T07:00:00","slug":"uccs-selects-new-members-for-the-chancellors-leadership-class","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pressreleases.uccs.edu\/?p=13","title":{"rendered":"UCCS SELECTS NEW MEMBERS FOR THE CHANCELLOR&#8217;S LEADERSHIP CLASS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO &#8211;Seventeen students from Colorado and two other states were recently selected to participate in the Chancellor&#8217;s Leadership Class, a highly selective honors program at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. <\/p>\n<p>CLC is a four-year leadership development program that engages students in meaningful community service, facilitates interaction with community leaders, and builds leadership skills. The students must also take courses from the leadership studies curriculum. Each student receives a $3,500 annual scholarship. This fall there will be 41 students in the class.<\/p>\n<p>Several organizations and businesses in Colorado Springs provided the student scholarships. They are: El Pomar Foundation, the Joseph Henry Edmondson Foundation, Ackerman Trust, Agilent Technologies, Ent Federal Credit Union, The Faricy Boys, and Firstbank of Colorado Springs. <\/p>\n<p>CLC is a member of the Colorado Leadership Alliance (CLA), a partnership between El Pomar Foundation and five university leadership programs in Colorado. <\/p>\n<p>Most students begin the program at the beginning of their freshman year; however, several of the CLC scholars are current college students with at least two years remaining in their college career. The university offers 25 bachelor&#8217;s degrees, 17 master&#8217;s and two doctoral degrees.
