WHAT: UCCS will open its doors to about 900 students, mostly freshman, who will live in campus housing this fall. The students, often accompanied by parents, will move their belongings into residence halls and will be assisted by older students as well as campus administrative leaders.
UCCS students are the first residential college students in the Pikes Peak region to move onto campus. Many students will participate in Freshman Seminar and an Aug. 17 Opening Convocation before beginning regular classes Aug. 22.
UCCS leaders expect a freshman class of more than 1,100 students and total enrollment of more than 9,000 students this fall.
WHY: Residential students are allowed to move in before classes begin to help them acclimate to the campus and to participate in Freshman Seminar, a series of courses introducing the students to university studies and the greater Colorado Springs community.
WHO: Representatives from the Office of Student Residential Life and the Division of Student Success will be available to answer questions.
WHEN: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Aug. 16. Preferred times to observe move-in is after 10 a.m.
