The operators of The Palisades at Broadmoor Park, received the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Alumni and Friends Award May 5 in ceremonies at the campus.
Toby Gannett and Ryan Dunn, vice presidents, Dunn and Associates, accepted the award from Paul Butcher, chair, UCCS Alumni and Friends Association in recognition of the company’s innovative approach to senior housing and partnership with the university.
“The future of UCCS and the Pikes Peak Region lies in how our vision of community-university partnerships continues to evolve and take shape,” UCCS Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak said. “On the forefront of that vision is Palisades at Broadmoor Park.”
The Palisades is an educational and research site for UCCS that extends beyond traditional academic partnerships. The company worked cooperatively with UCCS geropsychology experts to develop the facility and is working with other divisions of the university including new programs within the College of Business, sponsoring three Palisades scholars, and developing a community arts program.
Additionally, the company is working closely with faculty in the College of Engineering and Applied Science to develop technology for use in its memory unit. Faculty and students from the Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences are integrated throughout the facility.
The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs located on Austin Bluffs Parkway in Colorado Springs, is one of the fastest growing universities in the nation. The University offers 30 bachelor’s degrees, 19 master’s and four doctoral degrees. The campus enrolls about 8,000 students annually.
