Vigil memorial services are planned for 6 p.m. today at the University Center for Craig Highline, corporal, Police Department.
A funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Oct. 23 at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 4925 N. Carefree. A reception will follow at the Odd Fellows Lodge, 575 S. Union. There will be a from the church to the lodge.
Highline died Oct. 17 following an off-campus traffic accident near his home in Security. Teddy bears are suggested in memory of Officer Highline at tonight’s campus service. The toy bears will be donated to the Campus Holiday Service Project for distribution to needy families.
“On behalf of the entire university community, I wish to express my condolences to the friends, family and colleagues of University Police Officer Craig Highline,” Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak said.
Highline was an eight-year veteran of the University Police Department. He was known as “Huggy Bear” among students who lived in housing for his outgoing personality and care for others.
