Editor’s Note: The following information is provided jointly by the City of Colorado Springs Police Department, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs to media outlets covering the Garrett Swasey funeral and processional.
Out of respect for the grieving family, friends and fellow law enforcement officers we are unable to accommodate requests for interviews on Friday. University of Colorado Colorado Springs Chancellor Shockley-Zalabak will provide a live statement to the media prior to the service. This statement will be on site at the church in the media area at Dock 2. This will occur at approximately 11:45 AM MST.
The service inside and outside of New Life Church will be a pool only event. Local CBS affiliate KKTV has been selected as the pool for television coverage. Still pool photography will be provided by The Gazette.

In addition to the pool footage, New Life Church will be providing three different video feeds from their in-house camera system and a live stream. The live stream is available at www.nlclive.com. The live stream can be embedded onto any website with the following code: (this code is all one line)

Media covering the service will need to be on-sight no later than 11:30 AM MST. Parking for media will be in the Media Lot marked on the attached map. Dock 2 will be contact point for streaming. All roads in and around the church will be closed at 12:00 MST.
There will be limited designated media seating within the service for those who wish to pay their respects. You will need to check in at the reception desk in order to be seated. There will be NO social media use during the service. We kindly request that you do not bring any electronic devices with you into the service and that you respect the dignity and custom of our grieving for Officer Swasey.
Following the service there will be a procession. You can share with the public the procession route will be provided on the UCCS homepage, CSPD and EPSO Facebook pages. It is also attached to this release. For your convenience an area has been set aside to record the process as it passes by the university campus. The designated area is at the UCCS Family Development Center. A map of this area is attached to this release. There will not be time to move from the church to this area.
Outlets wishing to utilize this area must be in place before the roads are closed at approximately 2:30 PM MST. The procession will end at Evergreen Cemetery. The cemetery service is for family only.
