Students in the UCCS Chancellor’s Leadership Class will receive more than $130,000 in scholarships this year generated by private donations.
Contributors of more than $10,000 were: Edmondson Foundation, El Pomar Foundation, FirstBank, the Gay and Lesbian Fund for Colorado, and the Kane Family Foundation. Contributors of $4,000 or more were: the Ackerman Trust, Agilent Technologies, the Colorado Leadership Alliance, the Colorado Springs Business Journal, CorVirtus , Inasmuch Foundation, Kaiser Permanente, Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak, Brenda Smith, Colorado Springs, BKD LLP, and UCCS Alumni & Friends.
Amy Kirlin, director, Chancellor’s Leadership Class, announced the funding totals a recent meeting of the CLC Community Board. Fifteen community leaders serve on the board to help guide leadership activities, raise scholarship and program funds, and serve as mentors to scholars.
The CLC class includes 37 students and includes six students from outside of Colorado, ten students from rural Colorado and 12 first-generation college students. The students will participate in more than 4,000 hours of community service with 80 nonprofit organizations throughout Colorado.
CLC is a highly selective, four-year leadership development program with the goal of helping CLC Scholars become confident in their approach to life and commitment to community.
