MEDIA ADVISORY
WHO: University of Colorado at Colorado Springs’, Vice Chancellor Brian Burnett and City of Colorado Springs Senior Engineer Robin Kidder will review a mock-up of the university’s first obelisk. An obelisk is a four-sided shaft that tapers to a pyramidal point.
WHAT: The 20-foot-tall wooden mock-up will be placed on the Austin Bluffs Parkway median near Mallow Road to allow UCCS administration and the City of Colorado Springs to approve the design and placement.
WHEN: 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12. (weather permitting)
WHERE: On the median of Austin Bluffs Parkway near Mallow Road.
WHY: In coordination with ongoing construction at UCCS, the obelisk will provide a formal entrance to the university. Pending approval, construction of the obelisk could begin as soon as early 2006.
