Why: The Academic Office Building adds 112 faculty offices, alleviating overcrowding in Columbine and Dwire halls and providing both improved work space and ability for confidential student discussions. The Alpine Parking Garage and Field provides additional parking spaces for students, faculty, staff and campus visitors as well as two soccer fields dedicated to intramural and recreational use. Additional facilities are needed to support UCCS growth (a 10-year 35 percent increase in enrollment). UCCS expects to enroll more than 11,000 students in on-campus courses for the fall semester which begins Aug. 25.
Both the Academic Office Building and Alpine Parking Garage and Field boast innovative energy saving features and are designed to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold-level standards.
