COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. A leader in the recovery efforts following the bombing of the Oklahoma City federal building will be the keynote speaker for the Sixth Annual Leadership Conference April 15 at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
Aden Hogan, town administrator, City of Parker, will talk about his role as part of the emergency response team following the April 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. In his role as assistant to Oklahoma City’s city manager, Hogan coordinated one of the city’s multi-agency coordination centers.
Hogan is part of a day-long conference intended for community and emerging leaders in southern Colorado. Registration for the conference begins at 8 a.m. with activities underway from
9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 15 in the Lodge at CU-Colorado Springs, 1420 Austin Bluffs Parkway. A fee of $175 is required. Seats are available.
Since 1996, Hogan has served as Parker’s town administrator. He holds a master’s degree in public administration from CU and is the recipient of many professional awards including the International City Management Association’s Service Award recognizing 25 years of municipal government service and the ICMA’s Program Excellence Award for exceptional intergovernmental service. He is a nationally recognized expert on emergency preparation, terrorist response planning and crisis management. Previously, Hogan has taught at the University of Colorado at Denver.
The theme of this year’s Leadership Conference is “Extraordinary Events: Leadership Lessons from the Field.” The Leadership Conference is designed to bring community members together for a day of leadership learning and discussion, said Kathleen Beatty, dean, Graduate School of Public Affairs, and conference host. The Center for the Study of Government and the Individual will serve as a conference co-host.
Through courses taught in Denver, Colorado Springs, Grand Junction, and on-line, the Graduate School of Public Affairs provides the only state-supported public affairs graduate programs in Colorado. The school attracts students from throughout the United States, and abroad.
